Church Update and Encouragement

Dear Church Family,

A few days ago, smoke from the western U.S. had turned skies shocking shades of bright red and orange. Photos and videos of the hazy sky looked apocalyptic. According to NASA, the color-changing skies were a result of smoke particles, which blocked certain wavelength colors—such as blue, yellow, and green—from the sun.

With the pandemic, wildfires, and racial tension, our mind may not be at peace. God reminds us to go to Him in prayers.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your request to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”  Philippians 4:6-7

This is the Christian prescription to secure peace in all areas of life.  “Do not be anxious about anything” does not mean that we are going to live a worry-free life. Nor does it mean that we will not have to deal with problems. We should learn to accept the things that we cannot change, like the pandemic and wildfires, but we also must have the courage to change the things that we can, like wearing face covering and staying inside. May our Lord give us wisdom to know the difference and act accordingly.
